I wish I'd have taken some screenshots now....
That last month was pretty crazy. I built up a 1300hp motor and put it in a pink 59 Eldorado. I managed to hustle that tank around Goose in 5:13 I believe it was. The motor was HURTIN by the time I wheezed across the line, but I made it just the same.
Cobras with 1300hp motors....incredible......LOL
Good times.

I have a replay on VHS of me and you racing at Proving Grounds. If someone could point me in the right direction of getting what I need to hook up a VCR to my computer I can post some movies. Got over an hour of racing on tape and no way to show it to anybody. :-xSkarTisu wrote:I wish I'd have taken some screenshots now....

Actually most cards have video outputs. What makes the AIW special is that it has inputs.SkarTisu wrote:I think if you get your hands on an ATI All-In-Wonder video card, it has video inputs on it that should allow you to pipe video output into the card.
I've never done it before though, so I can't speak from experience.

Sorry, i misread...dumbass i am.
Actually, you can spend a couple bucks on a cheap TV tuner card for this.

True, but unfortuantely, cheap is about $50, and you get CRAPPY video quality. That being said, I'd chip in a few dinero to help out if you're gonna pass 'em aroundtq's banned ass wrote:Actually most cards have video outputs. So all tv tuner cards get crappy video? Or is there a better tv card? I have no clue, never used one or even seen one. :oops:LToidKing wrote:

I know this works well
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... 04&CatId=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In college years ago we used an older version of this, (didn't have the front panel available back then)
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =T777-1020" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This is top of the line
http://www.matrox.com/video/products/rt ... o/home.cfm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
last I saw it ran about 2k for the set with Adobe Premier and After effects included.

Try looking at the specs on the tuner. I bet you money they won't show any of the important ones like minimum input sensitvity for 55dB video SNR or how they do for CSO/CTB (strong signal overload). The problem with a PC card is they really don't have the room or the power budget for a "good" tuner and I'd be willing to bet a lot of them just use VCR-targeted tuners (smaller, cheaper... and suckier). Video baseband inputs or HDMI or anything else like that is a different story.... it's just that when a tuner is involved it'll be a li'l touchy about signal levels and might not have a real good video SNR.Z28K wrote:So all tv tuner cards get crappy video? Disclaimer is I never looked real close at tuner cards. I'm just too Old School to want to watch TV on my PC.

What about this one at the Egg? Looks like the best one they have. Some decent reviews, most people like it.

I don't have ANY experience with Combo cards like the NewEgg one. I am only familiar with the single purpose ones like the first 2 links I showed you. I have used and know of people that have used those 2 with success.
I Do hear that these http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... u=D10-1012" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
are good and the software is fairly easy to use although I have never seen one used or used one myself.
Currently I have an old dazzle that won't make DVDs but will let me make DVD quality MPEGs

I've still got pics of each of my cars and even some old setup shots at home. I'll put them up later.
I've got a grab of my stats from a few weeks before the game ended somewhere also.

I just threw out my notebook a couple months ago when I cleaned the garage. All my old MCO, EQ, DAoC, etc stuff. I had printed out a couple hundred of those Ratpack spec sheets and had probably 50 of them filled out with specs and notes on different builds.(I scribbled notes to myself on everything. Some of them had multiple paragraphs on how my trial would go with that particular build.... how the car would handle in turn 2, etc) I can tell you I spent a good 15-20 minutes sitting there going through them before i tossed them just thinking back to how much fun it was tweaking little mini-details in MCO trying to get that 5 extra HP or shave a second off my time.

Here's the cars I ended the game owning: http://www.rapidpants.com/junk/MCO/
And here's some random stuff I had floating around, including my stats from a few weeks before the end. Missed them on the last day, too busy racing.

Notice the name of the file, that was Hydros setup for Goose point. We traded setups to see how we got on with each others. Through all my time in MCO the only setups that worked for me where mine. I tried quite a few of the really quick guys setups and couldn't get the times with them.SkarTisu wrote:What were you doing running an automatic at Goose Pointe?!
I set mine up like I like my road car, lose rear pointy front end but needs a gentle touch or your facing the wrong way.
I noticed a lot of people ran really stiff rears and soft fronts, I ran the opposite, it meant you had to be gentle with it but allowed for good cornering speeds, quick direction changes weren't so easy though.
Dam it's all coming back to me now. I miss my weekly Goose Point shootout, and MCC, what a cracking track.

Yeah, I think I really missed the boat on trying different spring packages in the car. I was always thinking about what I experienced in off-road RC racing: Softer front spring always equalled more steering. So, I thought that would be the case in MCO as well. I think the car was really dumping over badly though running it that way.Rod Street wrote:I noticed a lot of people ran really stiff rears and soft fronts, I ran the opposite, it meant you had to be gentle with it but allowed for good cornering speeds, quick direction changes weren't so easy though.

As I've played with setups in GTR, I've discovered that whole stiffer front spring/swaybar phenomenon. I wish I could fire up my Formula and try it.
I loved MCC too. Fantastic track! Don't miss your turn markers, or you're in the wall!

Awesome pics Rod. Any screenshot of MCO is a keeper in my book. But that's just me, I love reminiscing. Damn I wish I would have known the majority of you in MCO.

That's what I always remember from my RC days also, light springs on the front always gave much sharper in turn in.SkarTisu wrote:Yeah, I think I really missed the boat on trying different spring packages in the car. In MCO everyone seemed to want a really stiff car, that's fine in some respects but it seriously hinders the maximum cornering speed. A car needs an amount of body roll.
IN MCO I tended to work on the principle that I had a huge lump of metal in the front of the car and because of that stiffer springs at the front were needed. Although there were exceptions. Cars like the 32 and 40 Coupé seemed to react better to stiffer rears, though sometimes I ran the same setup as on a Vette as the car wasn't that different, it just had a high COG, although chopped it was much better. I used to love beating people in Vettes using my old 40 Coupé.
I want it back.
Whoever designed Goose and MCC knew what they were doing, fantastic circuits.
