Gah... now I'm all nostalgic.

I was a socializing, rares collecting, trials junkie myself, with a ton of skinning thrown in the mix. Once they started releasing rare parts into the cat I was stunned how big a difference some of them made. My times plummetted in many cases, just shy of 1:47 on WB and hit 3:40 in 2 laps in an unlimited form on HH. Depressing! :( I hated having to put money into stuff like rare parts but didn't realize it was affecting performance so drastically. Depressed me a little.

Some fun racing with stock auto sales 32's & 40's was a good time. You could almost leave the car on a straightaway and go grab a muffin and come back in time to make the turn.

Class racing was a blast but later on I got hooked on speed and unlimited class. white-knuckle driving on MCC and GP team trials... crazy shit. BAGP was probably the most relaxing track for me. Sweeping corners, no real big surprises... non-technical fun fun track. I'd never run it backwards before they put in the big payout on it. So here I go... juiced cobra... streaking down the hill... through the tunnel... "uh oh.. WHOOOOAAAA!!!" yeah GP... THAT hill... poor cobra. :(

Collecting was fun... bought my chop/decal 57 vette when it spawned for 7 mil. Was the most expensive car sold on the server and put me 4 mil in debt. Kept it right til the end. Drove it the last couple months. Scored several other cool cars plus the skin reward vert 442's and cheros. I gave my 2 cheros on uptown (vert red-hot and chop cali' dreamin) to Ripper because he seemed to have a thing for em and I knew he'd dig way more than some shmoe buyin em outta auction and drive em proud. :(

Sweet Lou's HH tourney was one of the best times I had in-game and the only tourney I ever ran in. Absolute blast.

Dev nights were insane. So many people in the rooms and the pits would fill up before you could even get in.

*sigh* dead & gone, I know... fond memories though.

I hated that track until they made it Vintage B or D (can't remember now). And then I really REALLY started to like it.

Dev night... had to "appropriate" the gf's account to run on Uptown, but got in a race against BigSlowBen

I *think* this was from that same Dev night as an anonymous Dev hits his little known "Tornado of Doom" cheat button!

Monday Night Starters. I think that's Slick442 (?) that I'm unsuccessfully trying to chase down. Did ANYONE ever beat him on those MNS races?

I beat Slick442 quite a few times. Monday Night Starters was a blast. I had a Blown Flathead that put out ungodly amounts of torque. And I would just pull away from him. He would always catch me on the corners tho :?

Slick442 was the first person I met in MCO. We ran together in Beta, running starter Bels on the Tri-O (or as it was known after powergamers ran it 24/7, the Why-O?). I remember saving up for the Nova (the uber0car in beta, since they made it weight like 2,400lbs or something) and getting it in the morning before going to work. It was all I could do to not call in sick so I could have a chance to drive it....

Has there ever been a game where getting a new car meant so much to you?

The first car I bid on was a 64 impala. I came home from work at lunch to find out if I'd won it. What a thrill it was to see it in my garage. Then I couldn't wait to get home to drive it. 8-)

What I want to know is if you two started off at the same time... what went so horribly wrong with your driving career? It's like Ying and Yang....Twin Cam and Caddy.... Salvage and Trouble... muahahaha

Weeell, obviously I spent so much time coaching Slick, and passing on my mad driving skills that I didn't have any time left to practice myself...

Either that or I just suck.

Hmm I seem to be missing a few shots myself. Need to dig some at home I had a cd completely filled with screen shots at one time.

From what I have on RNO though, this is my favorite and one of my all time favorites as well.

RE_Lee wrote:I posted on the forums asking Skartisu and Kevin to run my GTO setup at GP and give me their opinions. I knew the car was capable of more than I could get out of it, I never was good at GP.

Both of them used it, both of them made slight variations to fit their handling styles and engine preferences, but both were able to produce times that were surprisingly good. I remember Skar mentioning that he didn't expect the car to go as fast as it did.
Yup! I remember that! I was very surprised how well the car handled once you'd put wrenches to it. I was used to more steering at the time, and I think we got that for the most part. I had a hard time getting the car through the switchbacks as quickly because the center of gravity was higher. But, the car was pretty quick for being a brick! :D
