MCO Offline + Anybody still have the final DB?
Anybody still have the final DB? Last I heard you could get MCO Offline at Sonjeir's site right?
I've got an idea... and the last MCO DB plus MCO Offline would tell me if I had some chance at pulling it off. Maybe I'm crazy. Maybe the idea isn't worth it, but hell....
little help?

I'd like to extract all the information (parts, cars, everything I can) to an excel file. After that I'd like to start putting it in an SQL database and start learning PHP real fast and see what I can do about making a web based game using the information found there. I know there are a few web based racing games already out there, but I'd like to try it just for the experience of doing some PHP coding.EP429 wrote:what you lookin to do? I still have it installed, so I think Ive got what you're lookin for
Looking at MCOOffline the file I'm looking for is
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Motor City Online\Data\DB\Online.mdb
If it's not too large (2MB or less), you can email it to me at mcoaquabats@yahoo.com. If it's bigger than that I can give you a different email to send it to.
Thanks so much.

Thanks very much EP.. Got the file! This is exactly what I was looking for.
I guess I didn't realize you can play with the DB in access (silly me). Maybe somebody that knows ASP and access may have an easier time doing what I want to do with it.
Of course, if I make it all different then EA can't say I'm swiping their stuff.
I really shouldn't have started this... now I have ANOTHER project I will do half assed

Sounds like EP took care of you. I've still got some final db's also if you end up needing anything else. The last one I saved was 44 megabytes. Pretty much everything you did in the game got cached to the local db so I opened up all of my cars parts, went looking through a ton of cars in auto sales and auctions etc.
I could give you the source code to the Garage Saver program also if you'd like it. It's in vb but you can take a look at the queries that match up parts to a specific car (that thing was a bitch to figure out)....that might help get you started.
That sounds like a cool idea....even if it ends up half assed I'd still like to see it
